Sunday Best

Finally got to wear out mum's vintage skirt. Love the length of it, makes me feel so modest and classy at the same time. And, it has been a while since I've actually put on something decent to wear to church and other events. For the past few weeks, I've been guilty of taking apparels that are at the surface of my clothes pile, either because I wake up too late, or my school's workload just got the better of me. So excited for the holidays, where I'll be stress-free and I'll have more chances to wear non-sloppy outfits! Plus, I'll be going to HK - can't wait! 

skyline

I'm down to my last day of freedom before the semester starts *sobs*. Managed to do some DIYs during my free time, and this is my favorite piece out of all those that I made during this break.

I must admit that Singapore's skyline is quite breathtaking, so I decided to draw it out on an apparel, with my trusty permanent marker (fabric markers? Pssh. This works well too!) Now I'll have something to wear on Singapore national day!

You know what would match well with this outfit? A cup of green tea soy latte from Starbucks in my hand. This is the kind of look I want to be seen strolling around town in as I go shopping. However I highly doubt I'll ever do that because shopping in 5 inch heels is just torture. I did that once, and never again will I do that.

Cheapo

Today's one of those what I'd call 'cheapo' look days, because every piece I'm wearing is under $10! Trends die so fast thus I personally don't bother spending big bucks on apparels, except for shoes, that's like a different story. And also, there is immense joy when I manage to get so many pieces with so little $$$ woohoooo~

Finally tried the famous skinny pizzas at Skinny Pizza. Had English Breakfast and the squid ink flavored ones. Really tasty, and it's light so you don't feel bloated after eating them. But we were greedy so we order sides of truffle fries (TRUFFLE FRIES!!!!), prawns and pork sausage. Yeah, we were stuffed. So much for having a light lunch, ha ha.

Face Series Part III: Black Flow

Finally, we're on to the last outfit of the photoshoot! This black chiffon outerpiece is actually a button down dress, but I had been looking for a long sheer cardi for a really long time back then. It was really hard to find it in sg though, and one day I found this dress at Editor's Market which was the closest I could find to what I wanted. I was so elated but I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY WITH ME. So like the next day I literally ran to the shop to purchase it, and it was the freaking last piece! Thank heavens I managed to lay my hands on it, because the weird stares I got from the salespersons when I dashed in to the store like some lunatic would not have been worth it if I didn't. Anyway, here's the pics:

The peacock crown was a diy that I did a few months back. I am sad to announce that I've accidentally crushed it and now the feathers aren't so neat anymore :(

Face Series Part I: Baroque Nature

Not too long ago (May, I think? My memory sucks), I did a photoshoot with Wena (see: http://www.facebook.com/WenaChanPhotography ) at Fort Canning Park. Anywho, this was the first outfit for the shoot!

Organza

It's been pretty hazy lately, and the PSI has reached haze-ardous levels *ba dum tss*. (Lame) jokes aside, I've finally gone out of the house and to town after many days of cooping up at home! The haze toned down a little so today was like a breath of fresh air, literally. I decided to wear out my self-made organza dress that I've been itching to wear.

I was inspired to do this diy after seeing Style Nanda's mini floral dress:

I fell in love with the cutting as it was so simple yet had an edge to it. As for the choice of cloth, I went along with this Spring's sheer clothing trend, along with a bit of a futuristic element. Making this dress took me almost 9 hours, because I'm pretty new at using the sewing machine. Albeit the time I spent on it, the needlework is still.....pretty bad. Plentiful folds and ugly seams. Nevertheless, I was pretty proud of my final product.

Super into this graphic pullover I found in Bugis street. With the trending of Batman inspired prints on apparels, I thought this design was a nice twist to the conventional bat-shaped logo. Well, it looks nothing like the logo, and I think the three-headed bat is being electrocuted, but I can't be too sure heh that's just how I see it.

Long sleeves on a freaking hot day wasn't such a good idea, but at least it wasn't too thick, or I might get a heatstroke. And thank God for aircon!!!! Thank you Willis Carrier you are a life saver.

HELLO!!

Haha okay I have no idea what I'm saying. Anywho, spent the day at Chinatown today to buy some cloth for my next diy, and we dropped by Ann Siang Hill! Pretty amazing lane with really uniquely designed bars. Then, I chanced upon this checkered door and thought 'hey matching prints!' and I just had to take a pic with it.

As for my hat...I had so many people (especially those promoters hanging around the MRT stations) come up to me and said 'hello'. Many just whispered hello as they walk by or blatantly approach me to ask if I was going for some event. Haha it's a pretty good conversation starter piece, I guess.

beautiful disaster

Finally, the September break has arrived! School has been so hectic, with me still being in the midst of exams. I'm feeling really drained, thank god for this break. And this also means that I get to paint my nails whoo~ I decided to try this really gorgeous nail tutorial that I found and I must say.... it didn't turn out as what it's supposed to. Maybe it was the brush I was using, or the type of nail polish I was using (self-denial). But though it looks NOTHING like the expected results, I still like it! It's supposed impressionistic designed turned out as a mess of colours, a beautiful mess of colours. It kinda looks like I got acrylic paint on my nails and couldn't get them removed, but whatever, it's cool (for me, at least).

And that's my armcandy and bling to the wedding dress exhibition today. The exhibition was AMAZING we could really see how the wedding fashion has progressed and changed over centuries.

Animals

I'm not a very keen animal lover, but I really do like animal prints or having some animal related stuff in my outfit. I think fur (FAUX fur, not real fur, that's just cruel) has so much class, but people will think I'm crazy if I wear fur in this insanely hot and sunny country. So I settle with prints, like leopard prints, zebra prints, so on so forth. Recently, though, owning pieces with just the animals' prints alone wasn't enough, and I decided to venture out to pieces that consist of the whole creature on it. And therefore I got this tiger print bomber jacket from River Island.

I am suuuuuuper happy with this bomber jacket, because I got it at such a great price! I've basically saved 70% by buying it from the online store instead of buying it from the RI stores in Singapore, so it felt like such an awesome deal~ (Dear lord....feeling like a typical Singaporean chanting "cheap, cheap, cheap!" right now.)

Not forgetting my favourite elephant ring! And flatforms (very comfortable and easy to run in).

Neutrals

Nude, cream, black. They may be the neutral colours, yet they scream chic. When I get tired of wearing bold colours, neutrals are the way to go.
